Why does islam allow first cousin marriages?

Most COUNTRIES allow first cousin marriages, and the risks to the children of genetic conditions and birth deformities are only the same as those born of mothers over 40. The only problem is when first cousins marry repeatedly for several generations, creating a lot of genetic illnesses. One example of this situation is the Pakistani population of Bradford, most of whom can trace their roots back to one small village in Pakistan.
