Will this actually happen?
Don't believe the hype. There is plenty of oil in the US. With the current administration, we are just not allowed to get it. California, where I work, has billions of barrels of untapped oil fields that could help supply us for decades to come. By then, we should be running on little nuclear fuel pellets that power our cars for 80 years. Eventually, we won't need as much oil and we can get off of it. As for now, we have plenty in Alaska, and plenty in the Gulf of Mexico. We just aren't allowed to get it. Instead, we buy our oil from Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Canada, etc. and risk huge oil spills at sea while the tanker ships travel thousands of miles over open ocean to bring it to us. If we really cared about the environment, we'd get our oil domestically and stop shipping oil from the Middle East. So don't worry about. The government will come around eventually and we'll still have plenty of oil.
